This 73-story cylindrical-glass- tower hotel sits close to CNN Center, Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park, which served as the center of the 1996 Summer Olympics and is now the site of numerous festivals.
Truly a sight to behold, the Westin features glass elevators rising 723 feet to a rooftop observation deck and a revolving restaurant and bar. An 11th-floor pool under a retractable roof provides year-around swimming and stunning views of Atlanta and beyond. The Sun Dial, the tri-level rooftop restaurant, serves up corn chowder, peekytoe crab salad, burgers, sandwiches, flatiron steak with whiskey-shallot sauce, trout with hazelnut butter sauce, diver scallops and roasted salmon. Guests can enjoy buffet breakfasts in The Café, and relax later that night in the lobby bar.
All guestrooms offer the same panoramic views from their floor-to-ceiling windows. They also include dual-line telephones, data ports, cable TVs and Westin's newest innovations: The Heavenly Bed and the Heavenly Bath. Heavenly Beds consist of custom-designed, foot- thick pillowtop mattresses with all-white bedding, triple sheeting, down blankets and comforters, and piles of pillows. Heavenly Baths offer dual showerheads with multiple spray options; waffle-weave bathrobes; oversized Brazilian combed-cotton towels and citrus- scented toiletries.
A major conference hotel and social center, the Westin Peachtree Plaza attracts leisure travelers from throughout the world. Kids are welcomed here, too. The Westin Kids Club offers complimentary coloring books, bath toys and access to a special phone line of recorded bedtime stories.
